Hear from our runner Chris on why he's fundraising

We are delighted that 10 supporters are getting ready to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon on Sunday 6 April to support our charity.

The team includes clinical staff such as two Consultant Anaesthetists who have been training hard for the 13.1-mile challenge.

Ahead of the team challenge Christopher Honstvet, Consultant Anaesthetist, has shared why he’s taking on the London Landmarks Half Marathon.

"I'm a paediatric and obstetric consultant anaesthetist and over the last few years Croydon Health Charity has supported some amazing projects which have really improved the quality of care provided for our patients.

In paediatrics the "little breaths" campaign funded state of the art ventilators which help us care for the sickest children in CUH. In obstetrics using charity money we can now provide women and their partners their choice of music to be played when birthing in theatre - something which really helps create a relaxing and calm atmosphere.”

This year the charity is funding new pain pumps allowing us to offer more options for pain relief in labour and an improved service for pain relief in children - particularly our sickle cell patients.”

Given how supportive the charity has been to achieving these important goals I wanted to return the favour and support them by running the London Landmarks Half Marathon. I'm ramping my training up -- I've got to make sure I finish ahead of Dr Fong!!!"

Christopher is calling on the community for support through donations and encouragement. To contribute or follow his journey, visit his JustGiving page .
